There are successful albums. There are blockbusters. And there is Brothers in Arms. One of the best-selling albums worldwide, that catapulted Mark Knopfler and band to the forefront and has been awarded with two Grammy Awards, including the category "best mix". Brothers In Arms is the kind of epic album, of which only a few appear in a decade. Since it has always been a reference for audiophiles, MFSL released the sonic masterpiece in 2013 as a hybrid SACD. Therefor the PCM recording has been redesigned in a analog mixing console and was finally converted to DSD. Brothers in Arms has never sounded so realistic, balanced, dynamic, and complex as on this release.
MTV may have contributed to the enormous success of the album, but especially the excellent crafted songs and unforgettable instrument playing of the musicians involved make it a classic. Mark Knopfler's guitar riffs and Stings singing in Money for Nothing will always remain very distinctive for every music lover. The hybrid SACD remastered by Shawn R. Britton, was published in limited edition with continuous serial number and booklet with all lyrics in mini-LP sleeves.
This album and its numerous publications have been the reason for a lot of discussion amongst audiophile collectors, having been released not only in three CD variants and an XRCD, but also as a multi-channel SACD. Compared to the first publication in 1985, the MFSL version has a little bit more to compression, which was necessary to accurately work out more small details in the singing. The sound friend, however, will appreciate the much richer sound with finer vocal imaging and a drum set with full resolution, but without exaggerated sharpness. Fortunately it does not sound as the early 80s, when digital precision was no longer the benchmark for the new medium CD.
"Brothers in Arms" is the fifth studio album by British rock band Dire Straits. The album that was published in 1985, was the most successful of the group, selling more than 30 million copies and therefor making it to one of the thirty best-selling albums in music history. In additition as being one of the first digital album productions it has major role in the establishment of the compact disc medium.
The best sound is achieved by the use of L'Art du Son CD/DVD conditioner before playing.
