During impulse peaks - e.g. hard and loud bass beats - powerful amps increase the current consumption many times over: The power supplies then need more and faster current than the alternator/battery can provide. The voltage of the on-board power supply fluctuates, music playback is distorted, impulses are cut off. To prevent this, additional capacitors should be used. PowerCaps bring even power-hungry amps up to full speed and stabilize the on-board voltage. The quality electrolytic capacitors buffer the current like a battery and release the stored energy to the output stage(s) within milliseconds - and thus also increase the life of the battery.
